NEW YORK (PIX11) – Headbands are doing much more than just hold back hair.
Mary Grace Henry, of Harrison, New York, has been designing accessories for girls and women for five years now, with the intent of using those fashionable pieces to change the live of impoverished girls living in sub-Saharan Africa.
“Reverse the Course” had paid for 115 years of education fees for 45 girls living in extreme poverty in Uganda and Kenya.
And it all started with a simple birthday wish when Henry was 12.
She wanted a sewing machine and when she learned about the hardships experienced by girls living in poverty, she knew she could make a difference.
